MEMBER MEETING: Wednesday, June 24
The vote on a resolution presented at the May 12 quarterly meeting was postponed until June 24, for further study and discussion. The resolution reads:
" ... Resolved, that Living Word Lutheran Church call a pastor, full or part time, to serve its congregation."
If you participate at Living Word, we consider you to be a member and you may attend and speak at member meetings.
If you wish to vote on this or any other issue at any future member meeting and have not yet done so, please contact our congregational secretary, Pam Rathbone, and sign the voter list 5 days before the meeting at which you will be voting.
There are printed material packets on the entry table to be used as background study info for this meeting (minutes of the 5/24 and 3/31 meetings) which include the full text of the resolution -- please pick one up.
Communication is invited and encouraged! So talk to each other in the days and weeks prior to the meeting.
"Anyone who serves God will discover sooner or later that the great hindrance he has in the Lord's work is not others, but himself...Many of God's servants are not able to do even the most elementary work. Ordinarily, they should be enabled by the exercise of their spirit to know God's Word, to discern the spiritual condition of another, to send forth God's messages under the annointing, and to receive God's illumination", from The Release of the Spirit, by Watchman Nee.
Chinese Christian Watchman Nee, in The Release of the Spirit, addresses man's need for "brokenness" so that man's soul can yield to the Holy Spirit's leading. There is more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness...for Jesus' servants and His church if we can get US out of HIS way. The Release of the Spirit is a 10-chapter study from a 125 page book containing lessons such as: importance of brokenness, how to know man, what impressions do we give, meekness and brokenness. Harold would like to lead this study this spring. If you are interested, please give him a call at 765-8164, and let him know which evening would work the best for you.
Volunteers needed!
The Moses Lake Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group is searching for volunteers to help man the nursery for two Thursday mornings each month beginning in October, while the mothers attend their meeting. MOPS is an organization that recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs, and encourages and supports moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mothers of young children. If you have a couple spare hours a week, or each month, and if this is something you might be interested in helping with, please contact Kelli, ML MOPS coordinator for 2009-2010.
Congratulations!
